Miniature Bulldog

The miniature Bulldog, also known as Toy Bulldog is a special breed of English bulldog, which is bred down in size. The origin of the miniature Bulldog is not very clear, but is considered that they are bred with the pug. They are developed to reduce the size of English bulldog and to improve health problems which English bulldogs suffer from very frequently. However, miniature bulldog contains all the features of full sized English bulldog. Miniature bulldogs are very affectionate and loving. They are extroverted and active. Miniature bulldogs get along well with children and pets. They are very loyal to their owners, but a bit aggressive with strangers. Some miniatures behave in dominant way and need to be handled properly by their owner. They need a lot of human attention and care. Miniatures bulldogs also slobber or drool, some tend to snore while sleeping, but is very less in comparison to their full sized English bulldog.

Miniature bulldogs are popular due to many reasons. Since they are smaller in size; they eat little and have fewer problems. They are very easy to exercise. A small yard is enough for their exercise. The miniature bulldogs are considered good for apartment life. They are very energetic, full of life and make a wonderful companion.

Miniature bulldog breeders claims that they are developing miniature bulldogs to fulfill the demands of bulldogs with reduced size and improved health conditions. But most of the breeders just try to sell them ignoring all the standards of well-planned and responsible breeding. They even ignore genetic defects and problems, while breeding. The genetics that is being used for producing these miniature bulldogs is always not very clear. Different miniature breeder report different genetics for creating these miniature bulldogs and some do not reveal the genetics at all. There is drastic difference in the breed standards followed by these breeders.

Some people oppose this tampering of genetics for creating new breeds. Their point is that we should not go against the nature and do things for our benefits.

You must have seen numerous advertisements for the sale of miniature bulldog. If you are going to buy a miniature bulldog, make sure that the breeder is good and is following the standards of breeding. Be very careful and meticulous, while you search for a miniature bulldog.

The difference between miniature bulldog and Miniature English bulldog

Mini or miniature Bulldog - They are a mix bred (Generally Bulldog with the Pug), where crosses are usually 3-4 generations removed. This breed is not recognized by any reputable association or club like AKC.

Mini or miniature English bulldog – They are pure bred English bulldog with smaller size.
