![]() Like other small Scottish terriers, the West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, was originally bred to hunt vermin. In Britain it is among the most popular of pure-bred dogs. Coat: Harsh and free from curl, with a short, soft, close furry undercoat. Color: White. Features: Slightly domed head; eyes set wide apart; small, erect cars, carried firmly; compact body with level back and broad, strong loins; tail 5-6 in long. Size: Height: dogs 11 in, bitches 10 in. Weight: 15-22 lb. Care: Coat requires regular brushing and stripping; trimming required for show. Character: Game and hardy, easy to train, good with children, and suitable for town as well as country.
