West Highland White Terrier

Like other small Scottish terriers, the West Highland White Terrier, or Westie, was originally bred to hunt vermin. In Britain it is among the most popular of pure-bred dogs.

Coat: Harsh and free from curl, with a short, soft, close furry undercoat.

Color: White.

Features: Slightly domed head; eyes set wide apart; small, erect cars, carried firmly; compact body with level back and broad, strong loins; tail 5-6 in long.

Size: Height: dogs 11 in, bitches 10 in. Weight: 15-22 lb.

Care: Coat requires regular brushing and stripping; trimming required for show.

Character: Game and hardy, easy to train, good with children, and suitable for town as well as country.
