Herding Dog Group - Welsh Corgi Pembroke
![]() The Welsh Corgi Pembroke, a favorite of British royalty, has been a working dog since the 11th century-its job was to control the movement of cattle by nipping their heels. It may be descended from the Swedish Vallhund or from Flemish stock. Coat: Medium length and straight, with a dense undercoat; never soft, wavy, or wiry. Color: Red, sable, fawn, or black and tan, with or without white markings on legs, brisket, and neck; some white on head and foreface permissible. Features: Head foxy in shape and appearance; firm, upright cars with slightly rounded points; deep chest and moderately long body; short tail, may be docked if seen to he necessary. Size: Height at shoulders: about 10 - 12 in. Weight: dogs ahout 27 lb, bitches about 25 lb. Care: Puts on weight if underexcrcised. Coat needs daily brushing. Character: Extremely active and devoted little dogs.
