Gundogs Group - Weimaraner
![]() The Weimaraner or "Silver Ghost" is said to have been purpose-bred as a gundog in the 19th century by the Grand Duke Karl August of Weimar. A fine gundog, it was originally used against big game and, in more recent times, has worked as a police dog. Coat: Short, smooth, and sleek. Color: Preferably silver gray; shades of mouse or roc gray permissible. Features: Head moderately long and aristocratic; medium-size eyes; long cars; deep chest and moderately long body; tail characteristically docked. Size: Height at withers: dogs 24-27 in, bitches 22-25 in. Weight: 70-8S lb. Care: Best housed indoors; requires only little grooming. Character: Good natured and distinctive looking, with a metallic silver-gray coat and amber or blue-gray eyes. Obedient and agile, it makes a fine pet provided that it has an outlet for its keen intelligence.
