Hounds Dog Group - Tawny Brittany Basset
![]() The Tawny Brittany Basset originated in Brittany, north-west France. It was developed from the Basset Griffon Vendeen and other short-legged bassets to track over rough terrain, where it is fast and active. Coat: Harsh and close. Color: Golden, wheaten, or fawn; white spot on neck or chest permissible. Features: Moderate-length skull; dark, alert eyes; thin ears set on at eye level; chest quite wide and well let down; tail thick at root and tapering toward the tip. Size: Height: 13-17 in. Care Requires a generous amount of exercise; coat needs little attention. Character: This short-legged, wire-coated hound has courage and a good nose.
