Hounds Dog Group - Sicilian Hound
![]() The Sicilian Hound, thought to have been brought from Egypt to Sicily over 3000 years ago, is a mysterious, wise-looking hound which is said by some to have supernatural powers. Coat: Harsh to the touch. Color: Any shade of fawn, small white markings acceptable; solid white, or white with orange markings. Features: Long head with oval-shape skull; triangular ears with stiff, straight points, carried erect; body as long as it is high; fairly long tail set on low, without brush or long hair. Size: Height at shoulders: dogs 18-20 in, bitches 17-18 in. Weight: dogs 26-30 lb, bitches 22-26 lb. Care: Coat needs little attention. Character: A quiet hunter with an excellent nose, though primarily a sighthound.
