Non-Sporting Group - Shar-Pei

At one time the rarest dog in the world, the Shar-Pei or Chinese Fighting Dog dates back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC to AD 220).

Coat: Short, straight, and bristly; no undercoat on loose skin.

Color: Solid colors only-black, red, light or dark fawn, or cream.

Features: Head rather large in proportion to body; dark, almond-shape eves; very small, triangular ears; broad, deep chest; rounded tail narrowing to a fine point, set on high and curling over to cither side.

Size: Height at withers: 18-20 in. Weight: 40-SS lb. Cafe Coat is never trimmed; needs a reasonable amount of exercise.

Character: A very affectionate dog with a frowning expression, the Shar-Pei is calm, independent and devoted.
