Terriers Dog Group - Sealyham Terrier
![]() Named after the village of Sealyham in Wales, where it originated, the Sealyham Terrier goes back to the ISth century, when it was bred to go to ground in the now illegal sport of badger digging. Coat: Long, hard, and wiry, with a weather-resistant undercoat. Color: All white, or white with lemon, brown, blue, or badger pied markings on head and cars; much black or heavy ticking considered undesirable. Features: Head slightly domed; dark, well-set eyes; medium-size cars; medium-length body; tail set in line with back and carried erect, customarily docked. Size: Maximum height at shoulders: 12 in. Weight: dogs 20 lb, bitches 18 lb. Care: Requires regular brushing and must be hand-stripped for the show ring. Character: A fine family pet, good with children, but not averse to a fight.
