Terriers Dog Group - Scottish Terrier
![]() Bred to dispel vermin, the Scottie has existed for many centuries and taken many different forms. Many people still tend to think that the West Highland White and the Scottish Terriers arc one and the same breed. Coat: Sharp, dense, and wiry, with a short, dense, soft undercoat. Color: Black, wheaten, or brindle. Features: Head and skull long without being out of proportion to size of dog; almond-shape eyes: neat, fine-textured cars; well-molded ribs flattening to deep chest; moderate-length tail giving general balance to dog. Size: Height at withers: 10-11 in. Weight: 19-23 lb. Care: Requires daily brushing; beard needs gentle brushing and combing, and coat should be trimmed twice a year. Character: Tends to be a one-or two-person dog. It has a reliable temperament but docs not welcome outsiders. It enjoys walks, loves to play ball games, and is thoroughly sporty, home-loving, and independent.
