Toy Dogs Group - Pug

Originally from China, the Pug is a Mastiff in miniature-sturdy despite its small size. It is believed to have been introduced into Britain in 1688 by William, Prince of Orange, and enjoyed unrivaled status at that time.

Coat: Fine, smooth, short, and glossy.

Color: Silver, apricot, fawn, or black; black mask and cars, and black trace along back.

Features: Ears cither "Rose ear" - a small drop car that folds over and then back - or "Button car" the car flap folds forward with the tip lying close to the head; very large, dark eyes; short, thick-set body; tail set high and tightly curled over the back.

Size: Height: 10-12 in. Weight: 14-18 lb.

Care: Requires only modest exercise, but overexertion should be avoided in very hot weather. Daily grooming with a brush and a rub-down with a silk handkerchief will make its coat shine.

Character: Happy, intelligent dog, good with children.
