Toy Dogs Group - Pomeranian

A member of the spitz family from the Arctic Circle, the Pomeranian was bred down from white spitz that existed in Pomerania, northern Germany, from about 1700.

Coat: Long, straight, and harsh, with a soft, fluffy undercoat.

Color: All colors permissible, but free from black or white shadings; whole colors arc white, black, brown, light or dark blue.

Features: Head and nose soft in outline; medium-size eves; small, erect ears set not too low down or too wide apart; short back and compact body; tail set high, turns over back, and is carried flat and straight.

Size: Height: not exceeding 11 in. Weight: about 3-7 lb.

Care: Double coat may be groomed with a stiff brush every day and regularly trimmed.

Character: With a reputation as a lap-dog, adores lots of attention; lively and robust, affectionate and faithful.
