Hounds Dog Group - Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen
![]() The Petit Basset Griffon Vcndeen is a short-legged, rough-coated hound, developed in the Vendee district of south-west France. It was bred down from the Grand Griffon Vendeen, a larger variety originally used in France for wolf hunting and now used against wild boar. Coat: Rough, long, and harsh to touch, never woolly or silky; thick undercoat. Color: Solid fawn or hare; white with red, fawn, gray, or black markings: bicolor or tricolor. Features: Head medium length and not too wide; large, dark eyes; narrow, fine, supple cars; deep chest with a prominent sternum; medium length tail, set on high and strong at base. Size: Height at shoulders: 13½-15 in. Weight: 25-35 lb. Care: Needs little grooming and considers humans its friends. Character: This most attractive animal makes a good family pet provided that it receives plenty of exercise.
