![]() Bred by a hunting parson to run with, hounds and bolt the fox from its lair, the Jack Russell is still in demand as a working terrier and boisterous household pet. Coat: Smooth, or rough and broken. Color: Entirely white or with tan, lemon, or black markings, preferably confined to head and root of tail. Features: Strong-honed head; almond-shape eyes; V-shape ears; strong hindquarters; tail is customarily docked. Size: Height at withers: dogs 13-14 in, bitches 12-13 in. Care: Requires little grooming. Character: An extremely good working terrier, and popular as a household pet with, many people, including the elderly. Can be excitable and better suited to being the companion of an active child.
