![]() This breed originated in the Maritime Provinces of Canada, and is believed to be of Chesapeake Bay and Golden Retriever stock. Well boned down to its strong webbed feet, its job in life is to thrash about at the water's edge in order to attract the attention of wildfowl, a performance that has become known as tolling. Coat: Moderately long and close lying, with a thick, wavy undercoat. Color: Red fox, with white marking on chest, feet, and tip ot tail, and sometimes on face. Features: Broad head with well-defined stop; webbed feet. Size: Height at shoulders: 17-21 in. Weight: about 37-51 lb. Care: Needs plenty of exercise, and regular grooming with a bristle brush and comb. Character: Quiet and easy to train; makes a good family pet.
