Toy Dogs Group - Miniature Pinscher

Miniature Pinscher

The Miniature Pinscher, or Min Pin as it is commonly called, is known in its native Germany as the Zwcrgpinscher. It is not a small Dobcrman but the cross of a German Pinscher with an Italian Greyhound and, it is thought, Dachshund.

Coat: Hard, smooth, short coat.

Color; Black, blue or chocolate, with sharply defined tan markings on checks, lips, lower jaws, throat, twin spots above eyes and checks, lower half of forelegs, inside of hind legs and vent region, lower portion of nodes and feet.

Features: Tapering narrow skull; small, erect or drop cars set on high; bright dark eyes; compact, square body; tail set high, level with topline, often docked.

Size: Height at withers: 10-12 in. Weight: about 10 lb.

Care: Easy to groom, requiring little more than a daily brush and a rub-down with a silk handkerchief or piece of chamois leather to make its coat shine.

Character: Ideal pet for town or country, being affectionate and intelligent, and rarely molting.
