![]() The Lhasa Apso, a small, indoor watchdog, originated in Tibet. The word apso means goat-like-its coat resembled that of the goats kept by Tibetan herders. Coat: Top coat long, heavy, straight, and hard. Moderate undercoat. Color: Solid golden, sandy, honey, dark grizzle, slate, or smoke; black parti-color, white, or brown; all equally acceptable. Features: Long hair on head covering eyes and reaching toward floor; heavily feathered cars; dark eyes; compact, well-balanced body; tail set on high, carried over back. Size: Height at shoulders: dogs about 10 in, bitches slightly smaller. Care: Enjoys a good romp outside; careful daily grooming of long coat needed. Character: The Lhasa Apso is happy, usually long-lived, adaptable, and good in families with children.
