![]() The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest dog in the world, and the national dog of Ireland. Bred to kill wolves, it is thought to be descended from dogs brought by the Celts as they spread across Europe. Coat: Rough and harsh. Color: Gray, steel gray, brindle, red, black, pure white, fawn, or wheatcn. Features: Long head carried high; dark eyes; small, rose-shape ears; very deep chest; long, slightly curved tail. Size: Minimum height: dogs 32 in, bitches 30 in. Weight: clogs 1 20 lb, bitches 105 lb. Care: Brushing and the removal of straggly hairs arc all that is required. Character: Can be kenneled out of doors, but its calm temperament grants it a place by the fireside.
