Hounds Dog Group - Hamiltonstbvare

The Hamiltonstovare, named after Count Adolf Patrick Hamilton, founder of the Swedish Kennel Club. This hound is the most popular hunting hound in its native land.

Coat: Strongly weather-resistant upper coat lying close to body; short, close, soft undercoat.

Color: Black, brown, and white-upper side of neck,back, sides of trunk, and upper side of tail, black; head, legs, side of neck, trunk, and tail, brown; blaze on upper muzzle, underside of neck, breast, tip of tail, and feet, white; mixing of black and brown undesirable, as is predominance of any one of the three colors.

Features: Fine long head, Hat; expressive, clear amber eyes; large, thin, stiff cars; level back; long, thin, low-set tail.

Size: Height: dogs 19½-23½ in, bitches 18-22½ in. Weight: 50-60 lb.

Care: Needs plenty of exercise, and daily grooming using a hound glove.

Character: Smart, affectionate, and intelligent dog; a good companion which may be kept in the home.
