Terriers Dog Group - Glen of Imaal Terrier
![]() This short-legged terrier comes from the Glen oflmaal in County Wicklow, Ireland. Originally used to dispel vermin, including fox and badger, and in dog fights, it is now mainly a family pet or a working terrier on Irish farms. Coat: Medium length and harsh textured, with a soft undercoat. Color: Blue, brindle, or wheaten; all shades acceptable. Features: I lead of good width and fail-length with a strong forefacc; medium-size brown eyes; small ears, rose-shape or pricked when alert, thrown back in repose; powerful jaws; deep, medium-length body; tail strong at root, well set on and carried gaily, docking optional. Size: Height: 14 in. Weight: 35 lb. Care: Maintaining its charming "shaggy dog" appearance requires daily brushing. Character: Affectionate, brave, good with children, and very playful.
