![]() Named after Dalmatia on the Adriatic coast, the Dalmatian was established in Britain, where it was popular as a carriage dog. Coat: Short, fine, dense, and close; sleek and glossy in appearance. Color: Pure white ground color with black or liver brown spots, round and well-defined, and as evenly distributed as possible; spots on extremities smaller than those on body. Features: Long bead and flat skull; eves set moderately far apart; medium-size cars set high; deep chest; long tail that is carried with a slight upward curve. Size: Height at withers: 19-23 in, Weight: S0-5S lb. Care: Requires plenty of exercise and a daily brushing but does tend to shed white hairs, which docs not endear the breed to die houseproud. Character: This affectionate and energetic dog quickly becomes a family favorite. Intelligent and equable temperament. A friendly, outgoing dog capable of great speed. The Dalmatian should be free of any aggression or nervousness.
