Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier is very similar to the King Charles Spaniel, but while the King Charles has an apple-domed head, the slightly larger Cavalier is almost flat between the cars and its slop is shallower. Both breeds were named after King Charles II (I (> 50-85), and the Cavalier was the original favorite.

Coat: Long and silky, free from curl.

Color: Black and Tan Black with bright tan marks above eyes, head, chest, legs, underside of tail; white marks undesirable. Ruby Rich red; white markings undesirable. Blenheim Chestnut markings, well broken up, on white ground; markings evenly divided on head, lozenge between cars. Tricolor Black and white, well spaced and broken up, with tan markings over head, inside legs, on underside of tail.

Features: Flattish skull; long cars, set high; large, dark eyes; short-coupled body; long, well-feathered tail.

Size: Weight: 12-18 lb.

Care: Enjoys a fair amount of exercise; should be groomed every day.

Character: Good natured and generally fond of children.
