![]() The Boxer traces back to the mastiff-type dogs taken into battle against the Romans by the Cimbrians, a Germanic tribe. Since the early 1900s, the breed has attained immense popularity worldwide. Coat: Short, glossy, and smooth. Color: Fawn or brindle with any white markings, not exceeding one-third of ground color. Features: Dark brown, forward-looking eyes; moderate-size cars set wide apart; body square in profile; tail set on high and characteristically docked. Size: Height: dogs 22½-25 in, bitches 21-23 in. Weight: 53-71 lb. Care: Needs a reasonable amount of exercise; short coat is easy to care for. Character The Boxer is an affectionate, playful breed which retains puppyish ways well into maturity. It is kind with children, but not averse to a fight with its fellows. This obedient and loyal dog also makes a good guard.
