![]() Originating from the Flanders area, this shaggy dog was bred as a farm dog from a multiplicity of working breeds with the purpose of producing a good all-rounder. It was used in the hunt over rough ground, and as a herder, drover, protector, and guard. Coat: Rough, thick, and harsh w a soft dense undercoat. Color: Fi-om fawn to black, including brindle; white star on chest permissible. Features: Eyes alert in expression; cars set on high; broad, deep chest and short, strong body; tail usually docked to two or three joints. Size: Height at withers: dogs 24½ - 27½ in, bitches 23½ - 26½ in. Average weight: 88 lb. Care: Requires a good deal of exercise and regular brushing. Character: Can be rather fierce, but has a calm and sensible temperament. Intelligent, hardy, and trustworthy. Extremely loyal to its family and easily trained.
