Terriers Dog Group - Border Terrier
![]() Originating from the Boeder country, the area around the boundary between England and Scotland, the Border Terrier was bred in the middle of the 19th century to run with hounds and yet be small enough to bolt the fox from its lair. Coat: Harsh, dense, with close undercoat. Color: Red, wheaten, grizzle and tan, blue and tan. Features: Dark eyes with kcen expression; small, V-shape ears; deep, narrow, fairly long body; shott tail. Size: Height: 10 in. Weight: dogs 13-15½ lb, bitches 11½-14 lb. Care: Requires little grooming. Character: The smallest of the working terriers, the Border makes a first-class pet. It loves children, is long-lived, will literally walk its owners off their feet, and is also a good watchdog.
