![]() Border Collie is a descendant of working collies, bred for stamina and brains. It has the natural instinct to herd, and has excelled in sheepdog trials since 1873. Coat: Two varieties: moderately long, and smooth; both arc thick and straight. Color: Variety of colors permissible; white should never predominate. Features: Oval-shape eyes set wide apart; cars set wide apart; body athletic in appearance; tail moderately long. Size: Height: dogs about 21 in, bitches slightly less. Weight: 30 - 45lb. Care: Requires considerable exercise but only a regular groom with brush and comb. Character: Predominantly a working dog, it also excels at obedience competitions.
