![]() Large, powerful, and heavy-headed dogs, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog has lived in Turkey since Babylonian times (2800-1800 BC). Once used as war dogs, today they guard sheep. Coat: Short, dense, with a thick undercoat. Color: All colors acceptable, best is solid cream to fawn with black mask and ears. Features: Large, broad head, flat between the cars; small eyes; triangular cars rounded at the tips; deep chest; long tail. Size: Height at shoulders: dogs 29 - 32 in, bitches 28 - 31 in. Weight: dogs 110 - 141 lb, bitches 90½ - 130 lb. Care: Not suited to town life, and does not take kindly to strangers; requires considerable space and exercise, and should bc brushed regularly. Character: A powerful, loyal, and loving dog, it is good with children, and makes a fine watchdog.
