![]() A highly valued hunting dog, the American Foxhound is a descendant of English Foxhounds taken to Maryland, United States, in 1650. George Washington is also known to have imported Foxhounds from England. Coat: Hard and close. Color: All colors acceptable. Features: Large skull; large, broad, pendant, wide-set cars, flat to head; streamlined body: sabcr-shaped tail. Size: Height: dogs 22-25 in, bitches 21-24 in. Care: Needs a large amount of exercise; needs only an occasional sponge over before a hound show. Character: Good natured, can become less attentive and more wilful as it grows older.
