Toy Dogs Group - Affenpinscher
![]() The smallest of the pinschers and schnauzers, its name comes from its monkey-like face (the German word Affe means "monkey"). It is also known as the Zwergaffenpinscher, or dwarf pinschcr, and in France, as the Diablctin Moustache ("the mustached little devil"). It resembles the Griffon Bruxcllois, but whether it was the Griffon that contributed to the Affenpinscher or vice versa is a matter of debate. Coat: Rough and thick. Color: Preferably black, but gray shading considered permissible. Features: Slightly undershot jaw; small, high-set cars, preferably erect, but neat drop-ear permissible; round, dark, sparkling eyes; short, straight back; high-set tail, docked in some countries. Size: Height: 9½-11 in. Weight: 6½-9 lb. Care: Thick coat benefits from daily, careful brushing. Character: Appealing, naturally scruffy-looking toy dog, intelligent, and exceedingly affectionate. Makes a good watchdog.
