The need of bulldog rescuing occurs when:

  • The owners are unable to keep them any longer. They either abandon them or surrender them to rescue centers for better care. The reason can be various.
    • The most common breed specific reason is that bulldogs are very stubborn and dominant dogs and they require proper training, attention and care, otherwise they become obnoxious.
    • Bulldogs have persistent health problems that can make the owner unable to cope. They have various skin ailments, respiratory problems and recurring infections. The owner needs to shell out good amount of money to keep them fit.
    • Sometimes, the family abandons the bulldog when they have a new baby and do not have enough time for the bulldog. The bulldogs have emotional attachment or dependence on the owner, so subsequently they develop some behavioral problems with which owner is unable to cope.
    • Sometimes, some unfortunate events may cause the need of their rescue. For example, the illness or death of the owner, family’s relocation to a new place, and new working hours of the owner can cause the owner to relinquish the bulldog.
  • To save them from cruelty and neglect.
  • Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost and need to be rescued.
  • To rehabilitate Bulldogs before placing them in a new home by providing them necessary medical treatment, training and care to increase the chances of successful placement.
  • To give Bulldogs a new suitable and stable home, where they can live properly.

Bulldog Rescue center or network

There are so many bulldog rescue centers or networks who work in an organized way to rescue bulldogs. Some of them are non-profit or work voluntarily. For example, Lone Star Bulldog Rescue Center, which is a non-profit organization and your contributions to this center are tax deductible.

They are dedicated to the well-being of bulldogs. Their volunteers are passionate about this breed. They spend a large amount of money for providing sufficient medical care, food, training and shelter. They are committed to find new homes for the rescued Bulldog.

Rescued bulldogs are usually not in a good condition in terms of health or behavior. They suffer from different health problems and are very temperamental, the reason being the owner has left them. The wait time for the rescued bulldog depends upon your criteria. Generally, the wait time is long if you want to adopt a healthy bulldog.
