Bulldog Food

Bulldogs are very loving and affectionate towards their owners. We need to provide our favorite bulldog food which is specific to its breed. Every breed of dog requires a unique different food. Bulldogs’ facial features are very unusual and need a special kind of food to eat. The bulldog has a square-shaped jaw which makes it difficult to hold and chew food. The bulldog’s digestive system is also very sensitive which is why the selection of foods needs to be kept in mind.

Some bulldog owners provide their dog a meal once in a day. This is not at all good. Providing meal twice a day or more than that prevents flatulence and other gastric problems, which are very common to bulldogs.

Bulldogs are omnivorous animals and require a balanced diet containing all the nutritional elements. It should contain protein, carbohydrate, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals in balanced proportion required for proper body functioning. Their diet should meet their breed specific nutritional requirements. For example, the mineral calcium exists in almost 170 different molecular forms. Bulldog can assimilate a particular source of mineral calcium-- which is considered best for them-- but that source can not be assimilated by other breeds and may cause kidney stones in others. Generally, Bulldog requires a good amount of carbohydrate and fiber in comparison to protein which is not necessary in that very high percentage. Poultry, rice or soy should be avoided in general.

There are specially designed foods available in the market for Bulldogs. With nutritional value, they are also available in particular shapes that can be chewed by the short square-shaped jaw of the bulldog. While choosing the food, you should be aware of the junk food, which instead of providing nutritional elements, makes your pet sick slowly with time. Some of the bulldog develops allergic symptoms due to this junk food. But there are premium quality Bulldog foods like Eagle Pack, California Natural.

Fresh diet made using quality ingredients without preservatives are considered as the best for the Bulldogs. Home made food is less expensive and doesn’t take much time to prepare it.

Other things which affect the dietary needs of the bulldogs are its age, health condition, allergies etc. Bulldogs puppy’s nutritional requirement is different from the adult one. Similarly, pregnant Bulldog’s food requirement will be more specific than the normal one.

You should provide your bulldog the food which is specific to its native environment. Because the nutrient sources which are foreign to digestive system can not be assimilated easily and will create digestive problems further.

If you understand the nutritional need of your pet and provide proper food to your bulldog, your money and time will be saved. Vet bills are huge and so, it’s better to choose a correct diet for you bulldog.
