Many dogs are boarded at kennel by their owners. For the first time they experiences anxiety because that place is not their home. Their owners also worry about their food hygiene and etc. Here are some helpful tips to make this first-time stress less and a little less nerve-wracking.
- Please be calm while planning, packing and on the day of departure. Act as if it's nothing out of the ordinary.
- With dog bring his favorite cushion, blanket. If he doesn't have anything then bring a sweatshirt or any of your cloth which is unwashed so it smell like you to help him calm one you are gone.
- As well as bring his own food and dishes. Also bring most of the things to minimize the distressing changes for your dog. It will help him in adjusting.
- Bring any of his favorite toys with him such as a kong, a squeaky cat, his brother, a stiffed animal he likes to cuddle with, etc.
- You make sure that suddenly you don't change his food otherwise it will result in the stomach upset and increases his distress.
- Be calm.
- Once you drop him off, leave; don't drag out good byes or act like you are leaving him for a week. if you drop him off and make like he is just going for playing he don't get stressed and leave-taking will be much easier.
- If your dog loves other dog then please board the two dogs in a single room to share a kennel. Yours might like it better that way as well.
- Enjoy your vacation and your dog will also enjoy at the boarding kennel.
